When Indochina Capital joins hands with Danao International Holdings to initiate the Evason Hideaways resort project on Con Dao island, it is said that they will be kicking off a new wave of investment in tourism in Vietnam.
At the end of March 2007, Indochina Capital became the main shareholder of Danao. The two investors share the common view in investing and developing tourism projects in Vietnam.
Danao itself has set clear goals with the focus on accommodation and resort projects in Vietnam.
The investor once tried to do a special thing by restoring construction works which had been set up in the past. In early 1990, Danao spent money on restoring a golf course in Da Lat, which was first built in 1920 and was the playing field for King Bao Dai.
After that, the Da Lat golf course was listed among top golf courses in Vietnam by Golf Digest magazine. Later, Danao joined hands with the famous Nick Faldo designer to carry out the Ocean Dunes golf club project.
The cooperation was proven successful when the ninth hole of Ocean Dunes was recognised as one of the 500 top golf holes in the world by Golf Magazine. Both Da Lat and Ocean Dunes are listed among the top 10 golf courses in Asia.
Meanwhile, Indochina Capital has been a pioneer in looking for strange lands which are promising areas for resort paradises. These include The Nam Hai with high-grade villas (being managed by GHM group), and Evason Hideaways resort, which is under construction.
Peter Ryder, Managing Director of Indochina Capital, said that Danao’s investment items prove to coincide with the investment portfolio of Indochina Capital.
Besides the projects under implementation, the two investors are also moving ahead with new projects, including Montgomerie Links, an 18-hole golf course designed by Colin Montgomerie and built by IMG, and Marble Mountain Beach Resort, capitalised at US$80 million and managed by one of the world’s leading hotel managers.
| In 1999, Indochina Capital was established by its two founders, Peter Ryder and Rick Mayo – Smith, as a company, providing financial consultancy services, and making investment in Vietnam.
Danao International Holdings has been present in Vietnam for a long time. Danao is the investor of many high-grade projects worth more than US$100 million, including the five-star hotel, the Sofitel Dalat Palace, the four-star Novotel Dalat, Dalat Palace golf club, four-star Novotel Corelia Phan Thiet, Ocean Dunes golf club, Riverside apartment building in HCM City.
